ACCLAIMED ARTIST DISPLAYS 5 OUTDOOR
SCULPTURES AT SHAKESPEARE & COMPANY

{Lenox, MA}-- Shakespeare & Company’s main entrance at 70 Kemble Street has been transformed by the arrival of 5 outdoor monumental sculptures by acclaimed Connecticut artist Carole Eisner. The sculptures, valued between $50-$85,000, are for sale and on display through October 31, with 30% of the proceeds from any sale being donated by the artist to Shakespeare & Company. For more information and purchase, visit the artist’s website at www.caroleeisner.com or contact Shakespeare & Company at (413) 637-1199 ext. 115.

Weighing up to 2,500 lbs and standing up to 10 ft high, the welded steel structures arrived on two flatbed trailers June 21, and were placed by the artist and her contractor John Guinta, with assistance from Shakespeare & Company facilities crew, and Berkshire Crane. The pieces titled ZerQues, Swoosh, Primal, Totem and Walter were all created between 1999 and 2005.

“ We are very pleased to showcase Carole’s exquisite work, and by her generous offer to donate a significant portion of the proceeds to the company,” says S&Co Board Chairman Michael A. Miller. “It is our pleasure to add visual art to the aesthetic beauty of our campus, and the diverse artistic programming at Shakespeare & Company.”

Carole Eisner is a sculptor specializing in monumental metal sculpture crafted from scrap and recycled metal. Eisner, whose studio is attached to her Weston, Connecticut home, has moved from tabletop steel pieces to larger-than-life outdoor sculptures that decorate city parks and other public spaces across the Northeast. Her work is featured in public and corporate collections including the Guggenheim Museum; a commission to Culture and Tourism, Hartford, CT., as part of a 6-mile sculpture park; National Associates, Inc.; Southeast Banking Corp.; Northstar Reinsurance Company; Knoll International; FMC Corporation; Skadden; Arps; Meagher & Flom; Orion Bank, Ltd.; Goldmark Partners Inc.; Bill Silver Associates, and W&M Properties. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Who’s Who in American Art, Vogue and Newsday.

“ I am thrilled to have the opportunity to show my art at Shakespeare & Company," says Ms. Eisner. "And to be included in this extraordinary Company's summer season that celebrates Shakespeare, theatre, dance, music, art and the power of the spoken word.”
