PRESS
RELEASE
Susan
Eley Fine Art is pleased to announce its Spring
Show New Work by Amber George and Kentaro Hiramatsu
Amber George
Working in the difficult medium of encaustic--beeswax
mixed with pigment—the Californian artist
creates multi-layered paintings that reveal a fascination
with pattern and texture in nature. Working exclusively
in encaustic, George has mastered the technique
of creating translucent, kaleidoscopic works, filled
with buried color and linear underpinnings.

Kentaro
Hiramatsu
Hiramatsu's recent paintings marry the best of Japanese
comic/animation culture, manga and anime,
with the artist's refined palette and elegant, meticulous
brushwork. Close inspection of Hiramatsu's intricate,
urban landscapes of parks, skyscrapers and street
grids reveal communities and grouping of people
at rest, at work and at play, rendered in rich tones
of blue.
