Susan Eley Fine Art is Pleased to Announce the Opening of
Collected Works by Jongwang Lee
Held at the Prince George Gallery, New York

Collected Works by Jongwang Lee is the Korean artist’s eighth solo exhibition worldwide and his first solo show in the United States. The exhibition is held at the newly renovated Gallery at the landmark Prince George Hotel, located in Manhattan’s Madison Square North Historic District.

The 14 abstract works, sculpted out of the artist’s own recipe of oil paint, resin and pigments, draw from 5,000 years of Korean history and eastern philosophies, specifically Korean Sumi-e brush painting and the practice of Shaman. The paintings also evoke a contemporary Western aesthetic with their dynamic compositions and day glow colors.

Lee received an M.F.A. from the National University of Tokyo Arts and Sciences and a B.F.A. in painting from Honglk University, Seoul. He has been featured in group and solo shows throughout museums and galleries in Japan and Korea, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and the Kawasaki City Museum. Since moving to New York in 1999, he has exhibited at the Sonoma Museum of Visual Arts, CA, the Hammond Museum, NY, the Korean Embassy, Washington, DC, the Japan American Art Association at the Tenri Gallery, NY, the International Art Festival Lantern of the East, Los Angeles, CA, and more.
