PANTA REI: Everything flows… ‘Ever-newer
waters flow on those who step into the same river.”
According to the Greek philosopher Heraclitus,
there is no permanent reality except the reality
of change. Permanence is just an illusion of the
senses.
This same thought inspired Jean Nestares’
upcoming exhibitions to be held in New York City
in 2010 and Seoul, London and Paris in 2011.
Jean’s previous work was based on cities,
lights, movement and people, producing a mix of
hectic yet poetic beauty. Today, by capturing
ephemeral moments trough video and photography,
Jean transforms images through the prism of the
water flow. Figures float freely without being
trapped in a sensation of perpetual metamorphosis.
Jean’s upcoming New York City exhibit is
a peek on her new theme which will culminate in
a solo show in the Kyung –In the Museum
of Fine Arts in Seoul in July 2011. “This
time in New York I will only show photography,
big format watercolors and my new series of monotypes
on canvas”. Movement and reflections are
common elements with her previous work. “Movement
is always at the heart of my inspiration. I enjoy
recreating one subject in different medias. Formats,
colors and backgrounds always bring new meanings
to the original image.”
